- Title A deadly combination: air pollution and TB in India
- Granting Agency McGill Interdisciplinary Initiative in Infection and Immunity (MI4)
- Period 1 June 2019 – 31 Dec. 2021
- Amount $150,000 CAD [with Dr. Scott Weichenthal, McGill University]
TB and air pollution both contribute substantially to the overall global burden of disease, but the combined impact of these risk factors has been largely overlooked. We aim to change this through an interdisciplinary research collaboration, starting with a seed grant that will enable the development of a state-of-the-art model that will allow us to scale exposure estimation to future, larger, cohort study on how pollution affects TB outcomes. This project has now been expanded to investigate the effect of particulate air pollution levels on TB in India and on COVID-19 in two Canadian cities.
